  • Wednesday 3 February 2021 Only 11 days left to donate If you have been blessed with security and a degree of comfort during lockdown and the pandemic, please visit'-school-and-sixth-form-2455 and donate whatever you feel comfortable giving - the money goes to support our very own BGGS students to make sure we have as many devices as possible to lend to them.
  • Monday 18 January 2021 Laptops for Learners: BGGS crowdfunding campaign There are many families within our community who simply are not in the position to buy laptops or tablets and some of our vulnerable pupils are falling behind in their learning because they just cannot access the resources available to them. We are asking our community to come together now to help purchase laptops for our vulnerable pupils to enable them to study at home. We are asking you to help by donating £10, £25 or whatever you can afford. We appreciate your support at whatever level is appropriate for you.   • Saturday 16 January 2021 BGGS orders extra laptops for home learning Good news for BGGS students without a dedicated device of their own for online learning: savings in this year's school budget have allowed us to order £15,500 additional laptops/chromebooks for online learning. We have just ordered 20 chromebooks and 20 laptops for loan to our students.
  • Saturday 16 January 2021 Help with data allowances The Government has set up a scheme to help disadvantaged families with online learning where access to data might hinder pupil access. The scheme helps by temporarily increasing data allowances for mobile phone users on certain networks. This is so that children can access remote education when face-to-face education is disrupted.   • Wednesday 13 January 2021 Help with accessing online learning/devices, etc. Our priority has been to allocate devices to the disadvantaged students in Years 11, 12 and 13. We have a list of families who are waiting for devices. We have ordered more laptops and as soon as we receive them, we will set up these devices to be issued to families.
  • Monday 11 January 2021 Final 8 DfE laptops delivered We have come to the end of the number of DfE laptops we are allowed to order. The final 8 arrived in school last week and have now been issued to the students who need them.
  • Monday 4 January 2021 A massive 79 laptops have just been delivered from the government! We have received our biggest allocation of government laptops yet; 79 devices have just arrived in school. These will be passed on to families as soon as we can log them in our asset register and call people in to collect them.
  • Sunday 15 November 2020 22 more students to benefit from DfE funded laptops Good news - we have been allowed to order another 22 laptops from the Department for Education to support home learning. As soon as these devices arrive in school, we will issue them to the families that we know don't have enough devices for each BGGS studying at home to get online for Teams lessons.
  • Wednesday 4 November 2020 Protecting Devices from Malware Malicious software, e.g computer viruses, is an ever present threat to users of electronic devices, especially online. Bordesley Green Girls' School has successfully dealt with previous malware attacks. This uploaded advice page will help parents and carers to keep their daughters and themselves safe from malware attacks.
  • Friday 25 September 2020 Letter about expanded online lesson provision We have recently increased our provision of online lessons to enable learning to continue if any year group bubble is asked to self-isolate for 14 days. Classes will continue to operate online during this period at the scheduled time on your daughters’ timetable.
  • Wednesday 23 September 2020 Online learning for self-isolating students Throughout the year, students all have access to Firefly, the school's Virtual Learning Environment, where tasks set for completion and can be handed in and marked electronically. When Year Group "bubbles" are self isolating, many staff offer online lessons using Microsoft Teams. A self help guide to using Microsoft Teams and a guide to Firefly are available by clicking the link.
  • Tuesday 15 September 2020 12 laptops supplied by the DfE We have been able to apply for a further 12 laptops from the DfE. The are expected to arrive in school in the next 72 hours and will be used to support students learning at home as a result of 'burst' year group bubbles. Please continue to let your Head of Key Stage know if you are at home and are having problems getting online for home learning because you don't have a laptop.
  • Tuesday 23 June 2020 Apply to borrow a USB data dongle - with data! The school has a limited number of USB data dongles available to borrow between now and when the school returns to normal operations in September. The dongles are suitable for plugging into a home laptop or PC and come with a monthly data allowance which can be used for home learning or watching relevant educational video clips.
  • Thursday 18 June 2020 Delivery of laptops from the DfE We have been allocated just over 30 laptops by the DfE as part of its scheme to provide more students with computers and internet access. This will help more of our students to be able to learn online at home more easily.
  • Wednesday 13 May 2020 Careers advice by email for Year 11 From Thursday 14th May Mr Richards will be running a daily careers drop-in session by email during term time between 11 am and 1 pm, please email him if you have any queries or questions. If you require more in-depth careers guidance, he can book an email appointment for you outside of these times.
  • Wednesday 13 May 2020 Live online lesson pilot We are piloting live online lessons with a small number of classes next week. This letter is being sent out to those families where their daughter is in one of the groups. Letters are going out in the post tonight and we will also publish details of which groups are in the pilot here by the end of the week.
  • Friday 8 May 2020 20 more laptops purchased to support online learning We are pleased to have allocated money from the school budget to purchase a further 20 laptops. These devices will be loaned to staff who don't have adequate facilities at home for delivering online learning and to students who have no device/are having to share with siblings.
  • Thursday 16 April 2020 20 laptops purchased to support online learning We know that some families are struggling to provide enough laptops/tablets to enable children to access the internet - so we have bought an initial stock of 20 brand new high spec laptops to load to students to help with their learning at home.
  • Monday 6 April 2020 Download the Firefly for Students app We would like to remind you about the Firefly for Students app. This app can be downloaded to your mobile phone or tablet and will help you to manage your school work.
  • Monday 30 March 2020 PE recommend Joe Wicks! Joe Wicks, the Body Coach, has got children and adults up and down the country keeping fit in the comfort of their home. Wick's live workouts last week were streamed by hundreds of thousands of people and then watched by over 2 million more from Wicks' Youtube channel. P.E. with Joe will be aired live from Monday to Friday at 9am
  • Friday 27 March 2020 Dr Hussain launches YouTube Channel The whole school is getting used to a different way of learning - including Dr Hussain who has launched his own YouTube channel. Take a look at his first few video lessons here.
  • Friday 27 March 2020 Firefly and Email Troubleshooting Guide If you are experiencing issues logging on to the Schools’ Firefly portal, click the link for some simple troubleshooting steps. If you cant log in to your school email, you will need to contact the school to get your password reset. Click link for the number.

  • Thursday 19 March 2020 Students need to check Firefly and email access We will be relying on Firefly and Office365 over the coming months and we strongly recommend that all students currently at home should try to access their emails and Firefly today to see if there are any difficulties.
