Dress Code

At Bordesley Green Girls' School & Sixth Form we believe that how we dress shows respect for ourselves and others.  As a result, our dress code at BGGS, (for staff as well as students), is very important to us.

Students in Year 7 to 11 are expected to be in full uniform when in school.  This uniform, agreed in consultation with Student Council, is designed to be practical and professional, encouraging students to take pride in their appearance, achievements and behaviour.

For those members of our school community who are not expected to wear a set uniform, (Staff and Sixth Formers), the required dress code is best described as a cross between formal and "smart casual".   For safeguarding purposes, Staff and Sixth Form students must wear their lanyard/ identity card visibly at all times when in school.

Sixth Form & Staff

Male members of staff typically wear shirts, smart trousers and ties, with many wearing suit jackets as well.

Female staff members, (and Sixth Formers), dress in a more varied manner, reflecting the cultural diversity of our school community, but still in a manner which shows respect for their position and status.  Many, for example, wear smart but not overly decorated shalwar kameez and hijab, while others wear blouses with two piece suits or skirts/ slacks and cardigans.

This attention to dress code means that everyone presents a positive, respectful image to people within and without the school community., while also impressing upon themselves the importance of being the best they can be.
